A Little About This Blog

I decided to start this site with just pictures of various things in nature such as plants, animals, insects and no travel or family photos.

Morning Dove nesting in our planter

Morning Dove made a nest in one of our hanging plants at our back deck.  She laid two eggs shortly after. After a couple of weeks only one egg hatched. It only took two weeks after that the the baby dove left the nest but stuck close by. The growth rate is very fast as Doves only live about one and a half years. Father sits on the eggs during the day and takes of the little one during the day. Mother looks after the young one at night.

Local Sea Gull (Winter)

Cold Gull April 6, 2015

This was one of dozens of gulls in the neighbors yard after someone had put a bunch of old bread in their garden. This one is watching from the top of their old garage. It just snowed a bit this morning as you can see. Boy was it noisy. Sounded like I was on a beach.

Herring Gulls

This picture of three Herring Gulls was taken July 3rd, 2015 by the ocean in a town called Hyannis (Cape Cod).  My wife and I were sitting on a bench at the edge of the beach where we stopped to see the John F. Kennedy Memorial.

I took this picture July 3rd, 2015 in a pond at the Boston Public Garden which is across from the Boston Common.

Bird (unknown)

Bird (type unknown by me)

When I took this photo, I did not record what it was.  I guess I have to search the internet to see if I can find it. If you know what it is, let me know.

Bad Hair Day

Bad Hair Day

Looks like this bird is having a bad hair day. When I took the picture, I didn't see what kind of bird it is.  I did not find out what this bird is called.

Owl pictures taken at Wizard World 2015 Toronto

This Owl looked to be about 18 inches or so tall.  The birds were tethered to a perch at Wizard World at a Falcon display.

This little Owl wasn't much bigger than a Pigeon as you can see by the size of the clasp holding the bird.

Peacock

The Crown Prince

This male Peacock picture was take on the side of a path while walking through the Toronto Zoo.  They wander around freely everywhere.

Crown Princess

I took the picture of this female Peacock at a different time and place than the males picture.  This was taken while visiting Centre Island in Toronto.
